Congratulations! That’s a tough one. I did my FEng in college and have been working the last year and a half. I should probably start documenting my hours.

Congrats! I just signed up for the October exam. ME thermo and fluids. What test flavor did you take?

Never bothered...and my practicing career is so far afield from my degree career I don’t know that I could pass either without school...and screw that.
You get a commiserate pay bump or you going to start looking for another job?
Edit: Oh, and congrats!

Here in Alberta the only test we have to take once we get out of school is an ethics exam. The plus side of having a very regulated/tough post secondary program. Apparently they were looking at letting Canadian engineers skip the Fundamentals of Engineering test in the states since a fraction of a percent of us have ever failed it.

Boss is back next week and we will see where my future lies then.

Passed my FE two years ago, but haven’t moved into an actual apprenticeship since. :/
Such is engineering.

When I graduated I was funemployed for a solid 3 and a half months. I had even applied as a sales person at a car dealership and was rejected!

We’ve got this

I’m employed, and doing (broadly) engineering work, but it’s not at a place that employs a PE, so it doesn’t count. I was funemployed/family employed myself for seven months out of college - then worked a year doing clerical stuff for a friend’s business, then landed here. It’s close enough to the right sort of job I shouldn’t have trouble moving on, but I’ll tell ya - getting a first engineering job while working with the clerical stuff just didn’t seem possible in any way.

I didn’t realize you were up in The Great White North. I was just talking about the differences in the PE between here and there with my boss this morning.
I apologize for my regionalistic assumption.
That reminds me of a story. A friend of mine was going through a checkpoint into Ontario and the Canadian border agent asked him about his citezenship. He answered, “American,” and the agent looked at him with a bit of a sneer and said, “Yeah, I am too. I take it you mean you’re a U.S. citizen?”

Haha, I wish I was a border agent, I would do that 100x a day and it wouldn't ever stop being funny (ok maybe it would get tired pretty quickly).
